Small Signal Motor Control  


Procedure:

We will assemble the light activated motor controller circuit on the circuit trainer.

Step 1:

  • Study the schematic diagram to determine how the parts are hooked together.
  • Refer to the materials pop up window to see the different components.

Step 2:

  • Hook up the components on the circuit trainer.
  • Set the power supply to +9V DC.

Step 3:

  • Power up your circuit, and attempt to make the motor run when the CdS sensor is lighted.
    • With the CdS cell lighted, change the value of R2 until the motor is just running freely.
    • When you pass your hand over the CdS photocell and partially block the light, the motor should slow down proportionally. When the light goes out, the motor should stop.
